Many people are surprised that Joe and I are going to be parents. You could say that we are defined as a stereotypical Type A couple who have put our career before even each other at times. 14 Weeks | Courtesy of babycenter.comSo when we break the news that in October we will be promoted to mother and father instead of within our companies, people ask us to repeat ourselves just to make sure they heard us correctly.

So the question is, how did we go from dreams of corporate buyouts and vacation homes in the mountains to dirty dippers and midnight feedings. To be honest, I don’t know the answer.

I do know we picked the time on our honeymoon. It was during an unforgettable dinner at one of the restaurants on the resort. The waiter kept our wine glasses full (could be part of the reason we thought a baby was a good idea) as we feasted on a five course meal. Joe and I agreed that we are not getting any younger, and financially we could cover it. After dinner we grabbed a couple glasses of Champaign and went for a walk on the beach. Not more then 50 yards into the stroll we saw a sea turtle laying its eggs. We spent the rest of the night watching the very long and methodically reproductive process, fascinated by this act of nature.

Some may have called it a sign from God or an act of fate. I would not go any further than calling it a sign of good luck.

So come December we started tying and what do you know… it worked. Baby Lindsley is 14 weeks old today with a projected launch date of October the 8th. I just pray that it is not like the due dates I set at work that blow by and end up weeks past due.
